Nineteen years later, that statement still holds true as Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens to record-breaking numbers in the post-pandemic era.

The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed fourth installment opened to a massive ₱96 million on Wednesday, July 29. That marks the biggest opening day ever for a Spider-Man film in the country. It also surpassed the opening-day grosses of Inside Out 2 and Hello, Love, Again to set a new post-pandemic opening-day record. The film did not even need the premium pricing boost from IMAX—whose auditoriums are still occupied by The Odyssey—to achieve the feat.
Aside from the character's enduring popularity in the country, several other factors likely contributed to the film's huge debut. For starters, Brand New Day benefited from the goodwill generated by its well-received predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Due to pandemic restrictions, many Filipinos were unable to watch No Way Home on the big screen, which may have heightened anticipation for the next installment. Combined with the studio's secretive marketing campaign, excitement quickly snowballed, with tickets becoming highly sought after as soon as they went on sale.
Columbia Pictures has also disclosed the top-performing locations for Brand New Day. As expected, the film performed exceptionally well across the country's three major regions. From Davao to Cebu to Manila, audiences were united in choosing to watch Spider-Man.
