Box Office: 'The Drama' forges ₱5 million in two weeks in the Philippines

As Filipinos wait for Michael, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and a slate of local rom-coms, a few cinephiles have been heading to cinemas to watch Zendaya scare the hell out of Robert Pattinson.

Pioneer Films’ The Drama added $19,671 (est. ₱1.1 million) in its second week (April 8–12, 2026) in the country. In two weeks, the romantic black comedy-drama has collected $92,934 (est. ₱5.5 million), pacing below last year’s A24 romantic drama Materialists, which opened to $97,581 and finished its run with $169,358 in the bank. To Materialists’ credit, the film was marketed more as a romantic comedy than The Drama, making it seem more accessible to general audiences.

There are no updated reports yet for the top-performing films during the mentioned week, including The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Project Hail Mary.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come continues to widen the gap among its horror peers this year. The Samara Weaving-led sequel added $115,000 (est. ₱6.8 million) after Holy Week, down just a fantastic 7.3 percent. In three weeks, the film has now totaled $858,000 (est. ₱51 million).

Nearing the end of its run in the country, Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers collected $12,000 (est. ₱700K) in its sixth week, for a cumulative total of $1,373,000 (est. ₱81.7 million).

The next tracking week sees the opening of Huwag Kang Lilingon and Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. An early report from Warner Bros. Philippines suggests that The Mummy is in contention for the top spot, having opened at #1 last Wednesday, April 15.

This article will be updated once more box office figures are released.
