Sequels often ramp things up to offer something new, and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is no exception. One could think of it as the The Hunger Games' Quarter Quell of this universe: stakes are bigger, the playing field is wider, and the kill opportunities have increased. Sarah Michelle Gellar is here too. The story is also built around the relationship between Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton, which serves as the heart of the film this time around.

At the same time, because of its larger scale, the sense of unease that comes from being trapped feels less effective this time. This is probably also due to the novelty of the first film’s concept wearing off. The momentum also needs to be reignited at times, as the film juggles both the sister rekindling plot and the killings.

But Weaving still carries it all, pulling us into another thrilling ride until the end. And by the finale, the film once again goes crazy, even surpassing what its predecessor did.

Ready or Not ended perfectly well. Fortunately, Here I Come offers enough to justify another round for Grace. Let’s just hope she won’t be found again by these people… or maybe she will. 3/5 ⭐️
