A good script really makes a big difference. Writer Keavy Eunice Vicente has built a solid foundation for the film, which has to juggle four characters. It feels real. The build-ups don’t feel forced. Director Nigel Santos ensures the material isn’t wasted. The pacing could’ve been a bit tighter at the beginning, but that’s a minor nitpick that doesn’t hurt the overall experience.
It’s especially commendable to see a sapphic film this confident in portraying such characters. The film clearly knows what it wants to explore.
Santos gives everyone their own moments, and it doesn’t hurt that she has four outstanding actresses bringing the script to life. The chemistry is off the charts. Leanne Mamonong is definitely a standout, alongside memorable performances from Janella Salvador, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and Klea Pineda.

There are multiple payoffs at the end, and they land seamlessly thanks to Santos’ direction and Vicente’s writing, whether it’s a single line from Pineda or a look from Mamonong.
Open Endings will definitely be a favorite for some — and deservedly so. It just works. And that’s a fact. 4/5 ⭐️
