'Un/Happy For You' crosses ₱250 million; 'The Crow' scares off ₱2 million

Filipinos still can't get enough of JoshLia (August 21-25, 2024). Star Cinema's Un/Happy For You crosses ₱250 million mark on its 11th day of release - an impressive sum for a local movie even before the pandemic.

The ABSCBN Studios-VIVA Films produced romantic drama now just ranks behind Deleter and Rewind among the highest grossing Filipino films since theatres reopened. It's also already the highest grossing film for a non-MMFF movie since 2020 or in this new decade.

With ₱253 million total as of August 24, it has still one day left in this tracking week to add more money on its huge wagon of cash. While we wait for the official reports, our sources say the film also opened solidly overseas.

Among newcomers with reported numbers, The Crow opens to est. ₱2.2 million ($38K) here in the country. The gothic reboot isn't faring well in the United States either with a paltry $4.6 million domestic debut.

Deadpool & Wolverine adds ₱10 million ($174K) this week for a five-week total of over ₱438 million. Alien Romulus actually had a nice drop this week with est. ₱6.9 million - just off 45 percent with a total over ₱22 million.

Box-office sensation Inside Out 2 saw an 26% increase this week with ₱200K+. It's Philippine total remains a stunner - over ₱818 million ($14 million) which is more than double of what Pixar films usually does here (including Incredibles and Toy Story films).
