To no one’s surprise, Jun Robles Lana’s recent MMFF dramedy Call Me Mother debuted in first place in the Philippines. More impressively, the film, starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, secured a slot on the global non-English chart, landing in ninth place during the week of August 24–30, 2026.
However, with 1.1 million views since premiering on the service on August 27, the film lags behind Vice Ganda’s last MMFF entry, And the Breadwinner Is... (2.6 million), as well as 2026 releases such as Wonderful Nightmare (2.2 million). Given its opening-week numbers, it’s possible that the film could see a steady performance in its second week.
In the film, Twinkle (Ganda) is a single queer mother whose dream of officially adopting her son is shaken when the boy’s biological mother, Mara (Lustre), unexpectedly reappears.
Meanwhile, ranking eighth in its third week, Netflix original film Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon also continues to perform well among Netflix subscribers.

Over in the series category, after spending two weeks in second place, Someone, Someday returned to the top spot during the latest tracking week. The Kathryn Bernardo-led series beat newcomer Death of the Pastor’s Wife and hit series Our Sticky Love.
