Set in Nagoya, Japan, four Filipina entertainers form a sisterhood while facing the emotional cost of their jobs. Together, they must decide what they are truly willing to sacrifice for their dreams in a foreign land.
As the city of Nagoya changes, so do the Midnight Girls. Beyond their nightlife persona, the film finds the quiet, human stories of who these women truly are; they are daughters sending money home, mothers missing milestones, and lovers repressing their feelings for the sake of survival. After years of being defined by those they serve and their sacrifices for others, the story asks: when can they find the courage to choose themselves?
Midnight Girls opens in PH cinemas on May 13.
