Netflix has released its engagement report for the first half of 2024 last July, and some Filipino titles made strong showings on the popular platform.
In the movie section, Star Cinema and GMA Pictures' mega hit Hello, Love, Again made a huge splash on the streaming service. The Cathy Garcia-Sampana drama, starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, earned 6.9 million views in the first half of the year since its Netflix premiere last February.
During its premiere week, the sequel also secured a spot in the Top 10 charts in several overseas markets, including Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Netflix original film Sosyal Climbers also performed strongly in the first half of the year. The romantic comedy, starring Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings, received 5.8 million views, translating to 10.1 million hours watched globally.
Despite only streaming for a few weeks during the tracking period, Jun Lana's dramedy And The Breadwinner Is... placed high among Filipino titles. The film, led by Vice Ganda, garnered 4.5 million views from June 12 to June 30.
Cinemalaya 2024 entry Balota was also among the most-watched Filipino films during the period. The Kip Oebanda thriller, starring Marian Rivera, accumulated 3.8 million views. Another Cinemalaya entry, Jonathan Jurilla's Love Child, also drew significant viewership with 1.1 million views. This bodes well for fellow R-rated local titles, such as Sunshine, if the streaming service picks them up as well.
Netflix original Outside continues to find a global audience, adding another 3.8 million views to its previous 16.6 million from last year. The same can be said for Lolo and the Kid, which garnered 2.1 million views.
