Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle opened to $4.2 million (est. ₱236 million) in the Philippines during the week of August 20-24, 2025, breaking the record previously held by Final Destination: Bloodlines ($3.5 million) for the highest-grossing opening week of the year in the country.

It also easily surpassed the opening week grosses of every superhero film released this year, namely Superman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Thunderbolts, and Captain America: Brave New World. This is an interesting bit of trivia, considering how popular the genre has been in the country which peaked with Avengers: Endgame back in 2019.

For those who had been tracking its pre-sales, the strong opening wasn’t exactly a surprise. It was the top pre-selling movie of the year, even outpacing Inside Out 2 from last year. The only question was how front-loaded it would be, considering Inside Out 2 and Final Destination: Bloodlines had phenomenal walk-up business throughout their opening weeks.

Like Inside Out 2, Demon Slayer also benefited from a national holiday falling on a weekday during its opening week. And the good times aren’t stopping yet, as Monday, August 25 is another holiday, and there’s little opening competition in the coming week.
