'Lilim' opens with 1.1 million global views on Netflix; 'It's Okay Not To Be Okay' debuts at #1 in PH

Never not bank on horror, as Mikhail Red's recent horror Lilim makes a solid impression on Netflix. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN's new drama It's Okay Not To Be Okay does the same thing on the series space.

The Heaven Peralejo-led film opened with 1.1 million views on the streaming service, placing 8th on the global non-English movies chart for the week of July 14-20, 2025. That's a very strong opening for a local film. In comparison, Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Extreme failed to secure a slot on the global non-movies chart despite opening #1 in the Philippines.

It likely helped that Lilim also placed in the top ten chart of four other markets: Indonesia, Maldives, Malaysia, and Singapore. It's worth noting that some of these regions have an affinity for horror, which bode well for Lilim. Expect a solid total for the film on the upcoming Netflix Engagement Report.

In the film, Hunted by the law for killing her father, a young woman retreats to a remote orphanage with her younger brother — only to discover its horrific secrets.

KimPau's My Love Will Make You Disappear also stayed on the chart, placing fourth this week. Local holdovers also include Sakaling Hindi Makarating and Un-Ex You

Philippines Top Ten, July 14-20, 2025:

  1. Brick
  2. KPop Demon Hunters
  3. Lilim
  4. My Love Will Make You Disappear
  5. Ziam
  6. Wall to Wall
  7. Sakaling Hindi Makarating
  8. Un-ex You
  9. The House with a Clock in Its Walls
  10. The Old Guard 2

Over at TV series, the series comeback of Anne Curtis proved to be a strong on as It's Okay Not To Be Okay premiered at #1 on the series chart. It's currently the lone Filipino title on a list dominated by anime.
