Dinos Roar While 'Dragon' Falls, as 'Jurassic World Rebirth' Leads Pre-'Superman' Week

Weeks after delivering a solid hit in the county with dragons, Universal does it again - but this time, it was dinosaurs.

Jurassic World Rebirth opened to an estimated ₱91 million ($1.67 million) in the country during the week of July 2-6, 2025. The opening is just a few million short of the last Jurassic World movie, Dominion, released in 2022. That’s a solid result, especially considering Dominion was widely considered one of the weakest entries in the franchise. Of course, this is still far from the franchise’s peak here, with the original Jurassic World pulling in a staggering $11 million (around $8 million adjusted to today’s rates) back in 2015.

Another interesting note this week: all three top-grossing films were from Universal Studios.

In second place, facing stiff competition from Rebirth, How to Train Your Dragon saw a 58% drop this week, earning $164K (₱9.2 million). In four weeks, the live-action adaptation has already grossed $3.47 million in the country.

M3GAN 2.0 took an even steeper fall. The film dropped 75% week-on-week, bringing in $29.7K (₱1.68 million). The doll has now scared up $172K locally in three weeks.

Ballerina, on the other hand, is still holding on. The John Wick spinoff collected $21.2K this week, bringing its five-week total to $1.27 million.

Unfortunately, Elio still hasn’t found its audience. The film added just $21.1K in its third week, down 72% from the previous week, for a cumulative total of $345K.
