The dramedy debuted to 2.6 million views on the streaming service during the tracking week of June 9-15, equating to 5.4 million hours viewed. Among local films this year, its debut ranks just behind Hello, Love, Again, which opened with 3.5 million views back in February. Notably, it also outperformed the Netflix original film Sosyal Climbers, which garnered 2 million views during its debut week.
It's also enough to rank seventh among the most-watched non-English film on the service globally during the week. The film ranked in the top ten charts across seven markets: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, & United Arab Emirates.
To highlight how big this opening is for Vice Ganda, the film has already come close to the total hours viewed by her previous feature, Partners in Crime (6.2 million hours viewed), which took over three months to reach.
The debut is another strong testament that a film can perform well both in theaters and on streaming platforms. This is important to note, as theatrical releases remain a lucrative source of revenue. Breadwinner collected ₱460 million at the box office, likely boosting its value further in ancillary markets. The film premiered on Netflix more than five months after its theatrical debut which is significantly longer than the 90-day release window typically observed for Star Cinema titles.
Other local titles also continue to attract Filipino viewers. During the tracking week, Uninvited ranked fifth on the movie chart, while Everything About My Wife held the eighth spot.
