'Love Child' and 'José Rizal' hit Netflix charts during the first week of 2025

For the week of Dec. 30, 2024-January 5, 2025, Cinemalaya 2024 entry Love Child debuts at number 5 on the streaming service's most watched films in the country. Jonathan Jurilla directed this film from his Palanca-winning story which stars Jane Oineza and RK Bagatsing. In the film, ayoung, unmarried couple must agree on certain terms on how to properly raise their son, who is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

The 1998 classic José Rizal also makes a mark on its premiere on the service, placing at number eight during the tracking week. Marilou Diaz-Abaya directs this classic starring Cesar Montano as the titular character which won various awards during its time. 

The first place went to Warner Bros. shark sequel Meg 2: The Trench. Other notable debuts this week include Knock at the Cabin from M. Night Shyamalan and Christian drama The Forge.
