Two Filipino films continue their march toward the coveted century mark at the box office, and the finish line is now within sight for both.
Victor Villanueva's horror comedy Pee Mak has reportedly grossed ₱90 million in 17 days, according to VIVA Films. Aside from what is likely strong word of mouth, the remake starring Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene continues to perform well in the country, as it also fits perfectly into October's main celebration: Halloween.
Meanwhile, Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan’s 2 Valid IDs is also closing in on the century mark. In 18 days, the Marrieta Subong-led drama has collected ₱80 million nationwide. It's a fantastic figure for the Cinemalaya 2026 entry, which now joins a slowly growing group of films from the annual festival that have found commercial success following their initial festival run.
Can they actually do it? Working in their favor is another week without direct competition from a major mainstream release, as Star Cinema drops Remember on November 11, while Pioneer Films releases The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on November 18. However, cinema counts are expected to drop for both films, as a plethora of new releases will require a significant number of screens beginning November 4.
