The "Tayo Na" call is taking effect.
Universal's Forgotten Island, starring H.E.R. and Liza Soberano, continued to dominate the Philippines during its second week of playing in the country. The DreamWorks animated film added $1 million, down only 23 percent from its opening — an incredible drop for a film in the country. In two weeks, it has now grossed $2.9 million, surpassing the likes of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and even recent hits in the country such as Project Hail Mary and Moana.
In second place, Cathy Garcia-Sampana's Always Yours, Never Mine did some good business as well. According to PEP, the Joshua Garcia-Julia Barretto romantic drama debuted to ₱50 million during its opening week. While that's a solid opening for a local title, it pales in comparison to the love team's previous project, the mega-hit Un/Happy For You. There are two reasons why it didn't perform as well: first, the new film no longer had the novelty of being the reunion movie of these two big stars; second, the film opened in a much more competitive marketplace, where Forgotten Island and Resident Evil are doing solid business. Back in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine had weeks to play before Un/Happy For You.
Verity also premiered this week, ranking third on the overall chart. The Colleen Hoover adaptation opened to a solid $231,436 (est. ₱14.5 million), which is already close to the final total of The Housemaid in the country. Among Hoover adaptations, it fell behind It Ends With Us while being ten times higher than the final total of Reminders of Him.
As expected, Avengers Endgame: Encore took a tumble in its second week. The re-release added $199,000, down 77 percent from last week. In two weeks, it has now made $1.186 million in the country — a number a lot of films would die to be at the same level of.
