Bow Down: ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Opens to ₱100 Million in the Philippines; Biggest Yet for 2026

Filipinos girded their loins last week as The Devil Wears Prada 2 kicked off the summer box office season with a bang… and in glamorous fashion.

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2006 classic opened to $1.683 million (est. ₱104 million) in the Philippines from April 29 to May 3, 2026. That marks the biggest opening for any film in the country this year, surpassing titles like The Loved One and Project Hail Mary. In U.S. rates, the debut has already nearly tripled the total earnings of its predecessor ($660K) locally. Interestingly, it also outperformed last year’s summer kickoff title, Thunderbolts ($1.5 million).

As mentioned before, the strong opening comes as no surprise—it was only a question of how big it would be. Next week, Miranda Priestly and company will face stiff competition from Regal’s Almost Us, Warner Bros.’ Mortal Kombat II, Paramount’s Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour in 3D, and more. While the influx of new releases will likely cut into Prada’s screen count, the sequel is still expected to remain in contention for the number one spot.

Speaking of Almost Us, presales so far are miles ahead of last week’s local newcomer She Who Must Be Named, which puts it in a much better position. The industry is definitely looking forward to whether the JMFyang romcom can break out next week.

Meanwhile, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come added $1K in its sixth week in the country, bringing its total to $919K (est. ₱57 million).

This article will be updated as more box office figures are released.
