‘Superman’ Kicks Off World Tour in Manila with Fan Events, Red Carpet, and 30-Minute Footage Screening

Manila fans were treated to a major spectacle as Warner Bros. kicked off the Superman world tour in the Philippines last Thursday, June 19, and it started with a bang.

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, alongside director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran, personally attended two key events during the day, which began in Bridgetowne. Fans and cosplayers joined forces to form a giant Superman logo behind Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Gunn.

Another fan event was held at the SM Mall of Asia, featuring a massive red carpet installation shaped like the film’s logo. A live orchestra performed while fireworks lit up the sky outside the mall. Some lucky attendees and the media were treated to a special 30-minute IMAX screening of the film.

While Manila isn’t a regular stop for international blockbuster tours, the Philippines has consistently proven to be a strong market for superhero films. Man of Steel opened to a massive $5.7 million back in 2013, while Avengers: Endgame wrapped its run in the country with an impressive $32.8 million total. Warner Bros. previously brought the Aquaman promotional tour to Manila, which paid off handsomely as the film became one of the studio’s highest-grossing releases of all time in the country.

The tour continues in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 23. Superman lands in Philippine cinemas on July 9.
