Netflix Engagement Report (Second Half of 2024) |
In the movie section, Netflix original Lolo and the Kid made a significant impact globally, earning 17.4 million views. With that viewership, the Benedict Mique-directed drama, starring Euwenn Mikaell and Joel Torre, accumulated 28.2 million hours watched on the platform. This marks the highest total viewership to date for a Filipino-made Netflix original tracked over a six-month period.
Even more impressive, another Netflix original also generated global buzz. Carlo Ledesma’s post-apocalyptic horror drama Outside garnered 16.6 million views, translating to 39.2 million hours watched. The Black Cap Pictures-produced film stars Sid Lucero, Beauty Gonzalez, Marco Masa, and Aiden Tyler Patdu.

Outside of Netflix originals, Star Cinema’s blockbuster hit Un/Happy For You delivered a strong performance, despite being available for only two months during the tracking period. The Petersen Vargas-directed drama, starring Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, drew 4.3 million views since its debut on November 14.
Netflix subscribers also showed strong interest in the Barbie Forteza–David Licauco love team, popularly known as BarDa, as That Kind of Love recorded 1.6 million views. Audiences were also drawn to Janella Salvador’s team-up with Thai actor Win Metawin in Under Parallel Skies (1.3 million views), and to the reunion of Vilma Santos and Christopher De Leon in When I Met You in Tokyo (1.2 million views).
While these three films did not perform spectacularly in theaters, their strong performance on Netflix highlights their appeal and potential value in streaming platforms.
The ensemble comedy-drama Fruitcake also performed well during its streaming run, attracting 1.5 million views. The film features a large cast including Joshua Garcia, Ria Atayde, KD Estrada, Victor Anastacio, Alex Diaz, Enchong Dee, Heaven Peralejo, and Dominic Ochoa, among others.
