The opening ranks (Disney reports $1.77 million in total) as one of the lowest openings for Marvel in the country post-pandemic—just under Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($1,961,537) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($2,108,523). However, this film feels like a soft reboot for the character and a Phase two entry, which did not have any flashy cameos or big easter eggs, and it seems some audience felt that way too. Nevertheless, this is still a solid business for a market that needs a new blockbuster after Mufasa and MMFF 2024.
With a weak competition until Snow White and My Love Will Make You Disappear on March, the film has room to maximize it sales. One thing that could deter it though is its weak overseas audience scores, which could be similar in the Philippines (since the country does not have an official pollster like CinemaScore).
Meanwhile, Star Cinema has reported that Jun Lana's And The Breadwinner Is... starring Vice Ganda has now passed ₱460 million worldwide. This is a strong return for Vice Ganda who saw a decline in her project's box office performances (The Mall The Merrier and Partners in Crime). The Ungkabogable Box office Star no longer need to prove herself in the box office, but this is a reminder of how she can be a figure to rely on.
