'Akira', 'Godzilla Minus One', & 'Perfect Days' lead Japanese Film Festival 2025 lineup

Japan Foundation, Manila has just released the 2025 lineup for the annual Japanese Film Festival, Philippines on their social media page earlier this Wednesday, January 8 which featured some familiar titles.


Here's the official lineup:

  • Godzilla Minus One (2023)
Post-war Japan is at its lowest point when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster, baptized in the horrific power of the atomic bomb.
  • Perfect Days (2023)
Hirayama cleans public toilets in Tokyo, lives his life in simplicity and daily tranquility. Some encounters also lead him to reflect on himself.
  • Akira (1988)
A secret military project endangers Neo-Tokyo when it turns a biker gang member into a rampaging psychic psychopath who can only be stopped by a teenager, his gang of biker friends and a group of psychics.
  • Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle (2024)
Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno high school's volleyball team to emulate his idol, the Little Giant; but he has to team up with Tobio Kageyama, his former rival.
  • Sand Land (2023)
The world has become a desolate desert called SandLand, inhabited by humans and demons.
  • DitO (2024)
A defeated boxer and absent father rediscovers the will to fight after an unexpected reunion with the daughter he abandoned to chase his dreams
  • Let's Go Karaoke! (2024)
Satomi Oka is worried about his final choir competition but is accosted by a shadowy gangster, Kyouji Narita, who demands karaoke sessions with him.
  • Our Secret Diary (2023)

  • Monster (2023)
A single mother demands answers from a school teacher when her son begins acting strangely. A fight at school causes even more trouble.
  • Under The Open Sky (2021)
A lifelong Yakuza, released from prison after 13 years, journeys to find the mother who abandoned him as a child. He is hindered by his gangster past and struggles to adapt to his new life outside of prison.
