Netflix Engagement Report (Second Half of 2023): 'Seasons', 'Keys to the Heart', 'Chico', & DonBelle lead Filipino titles

Looking back on 2023, the entertainment industry was still figuring out what will work and will not. Fortunately, some Filipino titles made an impact over at Netflix. According to their engagement report for the second half of 2023 there some familiar names and titles that made a mark on the platform.

Local Netflix original films unsurprisingly topped the list led by Seasons. The romantic drama starring Lovi Poe and Carlo Aquino garnered 8.1 million views since it premiered on the service on July 3 (which maximized its availability during this tracking period). The film was directed by Easy Ferrer and written by Dwein Baltazar. Speaking of Baltazar and Aquino, their theatrical release Third World Romance with Gawad Urian winner Charlie Dizon also debuted on the service during this tracking period. The romantic drama received 1.1 million views.

Another Netflix original Keys to the Heart also placed on the top part of the list with 4.4 million views. The drama stars Zanjoe Marudo, Elijah Canlas, and Dolly De Leon. Meanwhile, the Alessandra De Rossi-JM De Guzman romance What If accumulated 2.4 million views.

Despite playing only five days before the tracking period ended, A Very Good Girl made a splash on the service. The Kathryn Bernardo-Dolly De Leon revenge thriller received 2.4 million views from December 27-31, 2023. Other Bernardo films also made the list including The Hows of Us (1.4 million), Hello, Love, Goodbye (800K), & She's Dating the Gangster (500K). 

An Inconvenient Love, starring Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan, added 500K views on its yearly total. On the first half of the year, the film already received 4.9 million watch hours which is equivalent to over 2 million views. Another film of the love team, Love is Colorblind, received 300K views during the tracking period.

Historical films also got some viewership this period including Heneral Luna (200K) and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (200K). Filipino classic Crying Ladies added 100K views this tracking period. The film was made available on the streamer back in February 2023.

Over at series, Netflix's first original Filipino series Replacing Chef Chico topped the chart. The Alessandra De Rossi-led series received 2.9 million views (13.2 million watch hours) since it premiered back in November 2023. 

DonBelle's first TV series Can't Buy Me Love also premiered on the service during this tracking peiod. The drama collected 1.1 million views which amounts to 24.3 million watch hours with only around 60 episodes available before the tracking week ended.
