Momentum remains the name of the game at Philippines box office, but the battle between the top two slots was not a close as the ones fought in the United States. Deadpool & Wolverine tops the box office for a third week while It Ends With Us blossoms in second place.

The Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman actioner added ₱46.5 million ($800K) on its third week in the country. Its overall box office here has now totaled to over ₱395 million ($6.8 million). It's already ahead of recent Marvel titles Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is already pacing behind Thor: Love and Thunder ($6.9 million) in 2022 U.S. rates.

Settling for second place, It Ends With Us collected ₱26.5 million for its debut week in the country. It's a solid figure for a romantic drama (rated R-16 here by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board) in the country that produces blockbuster hits in the genre. Interestingly, top performing theatres include malls that have a slightly higher ticket price range such as Powerplant and Uptown Cinemas - a signal to which type of audience it has attracted.

Inside Out 2 added ₱715K this week. The blockbuster animated sequel has now amassed over ₱815 million in the country.

Next week sees the return of the Julia Barretto-Joshua Garcia loveteam with Un/Happy For You which is looking to resurrect momentum for the local film industry. (Weekend 32: August 7-11, 2024)
